Kelly Clarkson Drives ‘Stronger’ to Hot 100 Summit

In what an RCA Records representative terms a “perfect storm” of radio airplay, digital sales and pop culture prominence, Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” rises from No. 2 to No. 1 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. The uptempo pop anthem becomes the original “American Idol” champion’s third leader on the list.

Clarkson first reigned with her “Idol” coronation song “A Moment Like This” for two weeks in 2002. She returned to the summit with “My Life Would Suck Without You” for two weeks beginning this week in 2009.

Kelly Clarkson Scores With Super Bowl National Anthem

“Stronger” soars to the Hot 100′s top spot with top Airplay Gainer honors, charging 33-15 on the Radio Songs chart (58 million audience impressions, up 49%, according to Nielsen BDS).

On the Digital Songs survey, “Stronger” spends a second week at No. 1. The song sold 237,000 downloads (up 6%) in the list’s tracking week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The sum marks Clarkson’s second-best sales week, outpaced only by the debut frame of “My Life” (280,000).

Aiding Clarkson and her new leader’s profile, the singer performed the national anthem before Sunday’s Super Bowl (Feb. 6) in Indianapolis. With 111.3 million viewers on NBC, the NFL championship game became the most-watched event in TV history, according to Nielsen.

“Stronger” also serves as the soundtrack to Toyota’s current TV spot for its Camry model, in which Clarkson, from the driver’s seat, leads a sing-along of the song with the seemingly unlikely trio of ESPN’s Chris Berman, Bravo’s James Lipton and the Travel Channel’s Andrew Zimmern.

As Clarkson motors to the Hot 100′s top spot, Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain” descends to No. 2 after two weeks at No. 1. The song pushes 4-2 on Radio Songs (127 million, up 8%) and holds at No. 2 on Digital Songs (after leading the tally three weeks ago) with 165,000 downloads sold (down 1%).

Adele’s “21,” meanwhile, logs a 19th week atop the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Both Clarkson and Adele are among the scheduled performers at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, to be broadcast Sunday (Feb. 12) at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.

Flo Rida’s “Good Feeling” rebounds from No. 4 to its No. 3 peak-to-date on the Hot 100. Earlier this week, the song became the rapper’s third No. 1 on the Pop Songs radio airplay chart.

Rihanna’s former 10-week Hot 100 topper “We Found Love,” featuring Calvin Harris, slips 3-4, although it spends an 12th frame at No. 1 on Radio Songs (135 million, down 7%). “Love” is one of just 13 titles to command the airplay chart for at least 12 weeks since the list launched in late 1990.

David Guetta’s “Turn Me On,” featuring Nicki Minaj, remains at No. 5 on the Hot 100, jumping into the top 10 (12-8) on Radio Songs (69 million, up 13%) and staying static at No. 3 on Digital Songs (148,000 down 9%).

The next three titles in the Hot 100′s top 10 all climb to new high points: Jessie J’s “Domino” (8-6); Tyga’s “Rack City” (10-7); and, Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa’s “Young, Wild Free,” featuring Bruno Mars (12-8).

LMFAO’s former two-week No. 1 “Sexy and I Know It” (7-9) and Mars’ “It Will Rain” (6-10) round out the Hot 100′s top tier.

Just outside the top 10, Madonna roars onto the Hot 100 at No. 13 with “Give Me All Your Luvin’,” featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. The first single from Madonna’s 12th studio album, “MDNA,” due March 26, blasts onto Digital Songs at No. 7 (115,000) and Radio Songs at No. 28 (44 million).

Like Clarkson, Her Madgesty enjoyed a Super Bowl spotlight, having performed “Luvin’,” along with portions of her past smashes, at the big game’s halftime festivities. The track also received special attention from Clear Channel Media and Entertainment’s more than 50 monitored pop stations, which played it at the top of every hour from Friday at 9 a.m. ET until kickoff Sunday night.

“Luvin’ ” marks Madonna’s 56th Hot 100 appearance, tying her with Dionne Warwick for the second-most visits among women. Only the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin (73 entries), outdistances the Queen of Pop and Warwick in the category.

The No. 13 Hot 100 entrance of “Luvin’ ” ties 1992′s “Erotica” for Madonna’s fourth-highest. She arrived at loftier ranks only with “Ray of Light” (No. 5, 1998), “You’ll See” (No. 8, 1995) and “Frozen” (No. 8, 1998).

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries divorce is turning out to be downright ugly. It seems as though Kris’s lawyer has plans to put the trial on reality TV. However, this may be something that Kris Humphries may not want to do because it could potentially end up blowing up in his face.

Lee Hutton, Kris’s lawyer, an Kris Humphries have come up with the brilliant – or not so brilliant – idea of exposing the M.O. of reality TV by providing that Kim Kardashian did not intend on being married to him for long from day one. They feel as though the only reason she married him was so her rating would go up for her reality TV show.

But wait!

They are trying to prove their point to the judge by asking him to allow TV stations to broadcast the trial. As we know earlier Kim Kardashian filed for a divorce due to “irreconcilable differences” and Kris Humphries is claiming that she is a “fraud”.

Why Kim Most Likely Will Not Be Looked At As A Fraud:

• Kris Humphries proposed
• Kris Humphries was made famous and marketable which allowed him to make millions because of the publicity
• Kim has a long and complicated prenup that goes all the way into details of what would happen years into the future

Will Kris Humphries’s Request For Reality TV Divorce Court Backfire On Him?

My dad is a lawyer, I asked him and he said they don’t hold any water. For one, yes Kris may have proposed, but Kim is the one who said yes. If she knew all along that they weren’t going to last and only getting married because she was in “too deep” into the wedding plans and for money and publicity, it’s considered fraud. Two, she can’t use that against him because she’s a fame whore herself. If she had MADE him into what he is, as in an NBA player, then she can use that to her advantage. But since the only real publicity he got out of her was being the bad guy on tabloids, it means nothing. And three, as for prenup, she’s smart enough to know she should make it look good in case it blew up in her face and the sham marriage was revealed. Which in this case, it did and she’s thinking she’s going to use it to her advantage. Depending how good Kris’ lawyer is, he can absolutely take Kim to court for fraud and get an annulment.

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen, complained dropped

The New England Patriots contend there is no finger-pointing after their Super Bowl loss, even if supermodel Gisele Bundchen won’t abide by that code.

The wife of New England quarterback Tom Brady complained dropped passes doomed the team to a 21-17 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday — the Patriots’ second loss to the Giants in the Super Bowl in five seasons.

Bundchen was caught on video by TheInsider.comsaying, “You (have) to catch the ball when you’re supposed to catch the ball. My husband cannot (expletive) throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time.

“I can’t believe they dropped the ball so many times.”

Bundchen was the target of a pro-Giants heckler at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis after the game.

New York quarterback Eli Manning was voted the game’s most valuable player, as he was when the Giants beat the Patriots 17-14 in the 2008 Super Bowl.

According to multiple media reports, the heckler shouted “Eli rules!” toward Bundchen and added, “Eli owns your husband!”

Brady was not available for comment Monday, when the team traveled from Indianapolis by plane and arrived at Gillette Stadium on buses. Asked if the team had any comment, Patriots spokesman Stacey James pursed his lips together and shook his head from side to side.

Manning completed 30 of 40 passes for 296 yards and a touchdown; none of his passes was intercepted. Brady was 27 of 41 for 276 yards and two TDs; he had one pass picked off.

Late in the game, usually dependable receiver Wes Welker dropped a Brady pass; tight end Aaron Hernandez and receiver Deion Branch also had their struggles.

Welker’s drop came in a second-and-11 situation at the Giants’ 44-yard line, with New England leading 17-15 and 4:06 remaining.

Brady’s pass was slightly behind him, but Welker said, “It hit me right in the hands. I mean, it’s a play I never drop, I always make. Most critical situation and I let the team down.”

Patriots defensive back James Ihedigbo said, “You can’t point fingers at anybody. Wes made amazing plays all season.”

Randy Travis Arrested!!

SANGER, Texas — Country singer Randy Travis has apologized after being arrested on a charge of public intoxication outside a North Texas church.

Denton County sheriff’s spokesman Tom Reedy says police in the town of Sanger arrested Travis early Monday after spotting a vehicle parked in front of a church and finding an open bottle of wine and Travis smelling of alcohol.

Reedy says Travis, whose hits include “Forever and Ever, Amen,” was brought to the Denton County jail about 1:30 a.m. and released six hours later.

The singer, who lives in the small town of Tioga near Sanger, apologized in a statement to The Associated Press “for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl.”

Travis, who launches a concert tour Friday, says he’s “committed to being responsible and accountable.”
